Our rotary switch encoder provides for both a contact closure from a depression of the rotary shaft as well as the “A” and “B” outputs from the encoder switches. A prevalent problem with these devices is they usually exhibit a significant contact bounce when operated. Our design has eliminated most of the contact bounce to the point that we seldom include any de-bounce software in our micro’s logic. See the oscilloscope output for our switch.
This scan captured several rates of rotation of the switch from very slow to medium fast.
Our design was meant to allow the switch to be attached to the front plate of the device using the shaft housing. This then requires a four or six conductor cable to be connected to the micro PCB.
